Great another proper / repack....

Why the hell is it so hard for them to release something without fucking up ???

They have had plenty of practise you would think they would know what they are
doing by now.

how hard is it to not cut 9 minutes out of a show?

[shakes head]Again with the proper. This is just silly. As I said in another
post, if they would just take a little breath while they are editing, etc, and
forget about the "We were first!" bragging stupidity there would be far fewer
propers required. That's another part of the attraction of the 720p releases -
far fewer propers as they seem to take their time to get it right most of the time.

Many of us just don't care if it's released an hour later if it's a good rip.
All this re-releasing because they were rushing or just couldn't be bothered to
load up the file and quickly flick through it as a cursory check, just wastes
everyone's time and bandwidth.

ya 8 minutes of missing footage is a bit much to ignore, so back
to the starting gate for me.

it's been a week of propers & repacks so no surprise i guess.

Its a flaw in the scene system, the reason they rush to get them out is because
if they don't someone else will, and it is only allowed to be released once, so
if someone gets there before them they have missed their chance and potentially
wasted alot of time and effort.

Having said that I think people should just be greatful that someone else is
doing the work of recording editing and uploading in a very short time period
just to enable you to watch it without ads and when you want to. Rather than
complain about them not slowing down and taking their time to get it right, why
don't you just slow down and not download it until it is confirmed good?

The problem with waiting go be sure it is a good release is folks dont usually
post that it is, they only post to complain. shrug

admin : or you can be proactive and check if the release was nuked and then
wait for the proper/repack/etc.. to show up.

what the hells a matter with you guys?

these guys do a fantastic job, you'd be moaing if they DIDnt release the
PROPER wouldnt you, look how many shows they do and get them out, so fast.

if one fucks up during the encoding, they arent gonna know about it are they?
you cant expect them to sit down and watch each show they release start to
finnish before it released.

THAT would be unreasonable.

tony.

keep up the good work eztv. some of us appreciate you.

"if they don't someone else will, and it is only allowed to be released once"
See, now I just don't buy that. There's nothing stopping other groups or people
from releasing their own version. All you have to do is look at mininova or TPB
for that, there are often several different versions there.

I'll bring out my previous example: Doctor Who. There were *always* several
different 350MB releases for that: the usual "we're first, ner, ner!" scene
release, and then there were others, most notably the [MM] versions, both normal
XviD 350MB, and the following day a HQ full SD (720x576, 16:9) 350MB x264 mkv,
which came out the following day, and were sometimes even delayed a further day
because [MM] took the time to make sure it was as good as it could be. Every
time. Many, many people (myself included) wait for that HQ mkv release because
we know it will be excellent every time. Sure it's frustrating having to wait 2
days (sometimes 3) after you know a show has aired - but it sure beats waiting
the 4 or 5 months for it to air here. (The season 4 finale is only just now
being shown here - this weekend I think.)

tonylee000: We do appreciate what they do, and acknowledge that they do a great
job, and we frequently get shows months, or even *years* before they air in our
own countries, if ever. It's just that lately it seems that their standards
seem to have been slipping in favour of just "getting the ep out ... FAST!" and
then having to re-release it again later to fix stuff. Sure we understand that
a few seconds of audio missed or out of sync, and some video glitches can go
unnoticed. No problem there, *but* to release a file that it 8 or 9 *minutes*
too short!? We're not asking for them to watch the *whole* ep before releasing
it - it doesn't take 50 minutes to load the file into your favorite media player
and notice that the length isn't long enough, or to give it a quick viewing at
several places to check that it seems to be in sync for most of the file - I do
that all the time when I reencode stuff. (and do my own resynching sometimes
because even the accepted release is not quite in sync properly)

It's just something that would give particular groups a better image if they
took the time to do a quick check - and you would find that people would
preferentially download a particular group's release over others because they
know that group doesn't mess up much. That's what used to happen back when the
"lol" group was the leading releaser - people (myself included) waited for the
lol release simply because we knew there was a very good chance it was going to
be good, and have a very low chance of getting propered (or worse: real
propered), so we wouldn't have to waste data re-downloading the same ep again.
If a group releasing earlier found their releases were not popular because of so
many errors, they might think about raising their own standards to match -
rather than the lowering of standards we are seeing lately, just to get first
out bragging rights.

i believe the "one release only" is on the eztv website only, of course any
number of people can release as many torrents as they like anywhere else, this
is why i use eztv, - guaranteed its the show you want, not a fake and always
the best of quality, bburwood, you also say that standards are slipping, i
have only noticed repacks for the best of the best shows, the ones they try
and bang out quick as possible, loading it into a player to check if it is the
correct length is a simple check, but if they were to check the file they
would have to look for a lot more than that, crackleing, av out of sync, etc

i just noted that there was a lot of people bitching, this PROPER was released
2 hours after the first. personally i wouldnt download a torrent that young
myself because the download rate would be apalling, end of the day they get it
right far more than they get it wrong. its not like were paying for this
service are we.

at time of writing this, there are 40 releases on the front page of eztv, 4 of
which are re-releases, i dont think thats too much, do you?
sure we would all prefer for them to do it right first time, but how quickly a
bad torrent get correct is acceptable to me.

if you know of a group that does a better job then use them instead, and tell
me who so i can too.

Issues with repacks aside, it's a shame the damned show isn't any good.

It's not a patch on the X-Files.

It's plodding, predictable, and just plain stupid. It makes Heroes look like a work of genius.

Sorry Fox, you'll have to do much, much better. This one is a lemon. There's shows out there like Lost and
30 Rock which have real writers. Maybe you should hire some of them?

JJ Abrams: FAIL.
