Man... I really hate repacks :'(
They're becoming more often, even on 720p's now...
Sorry to be a bummer guys. Don't want to be complaining either, but this
feeling had to come off my chest.

Keep on the good work though!

Some breakups and stuff. This one is clean.

Looking for EST/CST cappers with quadcore and 2+ Mbit upload. We have nothing
to do with torrents or usenet, so please don't ask about those.

I haven't watched the first version yet, do the problems interfere with the
content of the show at all? I'd just watch the original one as long as nothing
is missing.

There was nothing terribly wrong with the first 720p, it's watchable by anyones
standards.

Yup, I just watched the first one and it's fine. Yes, there are a couple of
picture breakups, but only for a few frames each and only in small blocks near
the bottom of the image. I've seen much worse on live DTV reception before -
even with a strong signal.

I'll be archiving the first one, since I've already got it, and after watching
it found no *good* reason to use up a further 1120MB of my data allowance to get
a "perfect" copy. If you're really *really* picky about perfect quality with
zero glitches (and that's all the errors in the original could be called - small
glitches) then get the repack. Otherwise, you'll find the original fine if
you've already got it. If you haven't got it, then by all means go for the
repack. (though I can't say I've seen the repack)

Summary or the original:
Video: good (only a couple of the aforementioned very small glitches.
Audio: also good, in sync. I'm a bit picky about sync and nothing grabbed me
about any sync problems.

Even playback hardware requirements are good: my 2.4GHz P4 (which is a marginal
machine for 720p playback) played it back fine and I didn't notice any frame
rate slowdowns (as compared with many Stargate Atlantis 720p's that tax the
machine - especially in outdoor, forest type scenes with lots of tree detail,
like many in the most recent ep "Tracker" ). I guess the Fringe encodes are
using more playback friendly settings, while the Atlantis ones go for the
settings that produce a bit higher quality, but take a better machine to play
back properly. I like the extra quality, and have plans on getting better
hardware ... the only issue is exactly when.

On the repack issue. Yes they do seem to be getting more common, and for bigger
problems like sections missing and major sync issues, at least for the 350MB
releases. This 720p repack is to fix only small issues, and keep the standard
of final 720p releases high. For this one, anyone who has watched a digital
broadcast will find either of these acceptable.

Put it this way: to improve on it any great amount would take a bluray rip
release, or 1080i broadcast rip release, and even then you'd only be able to
pick it on a full hd tv, or larger (20 inch plus) widescreen computer lcd.
