lol ... right ... there is indeed nothing of the old SG mythology in that poster. I am looking forward to less technobabble, though ... that actually worked very well with BSG:TNS. I must say, though, that I am somewhat sceptical towards approaching a SG show with less technological content. The whole SG canon is about Stargates, Spaceships and alien races. I wonder whether you can replace all this with two lesbian hotties ... |

Stargate used to be about the gate and exploring new worlds right? So this premise already implied having alien races, with SGU they're on a ship and probably without access to a stargate (just guessing, don't know), so how does that even fit with the SG theme? Maybe I'm wrong, after all with Star Trek DS9 they also tried something completely different and it turned out awesome, although they didn't cut the aliens.... maybe they could at least have a Wraith on board ;-) |

Oh, I hope they can! JK, in all seriousness, this show seems to be a soap opera. They've said it takes place on Earth, but I can easily see what sX2 is saying about them traveling on a ship. I think what it really comes down to is that Heroes S1 set the standard for a Sci-fi drama and showed that a lot of viewers are interested in Sci-fi but would rather focus on the human interaction. Although I would argue that Sci-fi is almost always about the people, and the technobabble comes secondary. NBC is failing in the ratings pools and they're dying for new viewers. As such they're trying to restock their refrigerator with some good beer (shows), which is good, but I hope they don't spring for the cheap stuff (low budgets). I loves me some assault rifle firefights from SG1. I think what it comes down to is the premise. Is the show going to follow the features that made the first two series so great: exploration, battles, technology, human drama, and alien politics? My guess is at best two of the five. I wonder if there will be any cameos? I think RDA is pretty burnt out on the series, but I'm sure the other SG1 actors could use the work. |

I am pretty sure we will see Michael Shanks in the pilot ... or even my all-time favourite schizophrenic scientist aka Rodney McKay |
