Good work, thanks for the quick upload. looks like poor quality again though, not sure whats happened in the last few weeks? The CTV uploads used to be pretty decent :-( |

Although I haven't seen this episode yet, I don't quite understand the comments that have been made with regard to quality. I actually think that the CTV rips of lost have been far better that the ABC rips which all suffered from telecine jitter due to the nature of the broadcast and the difficulty in reassembling the frames. The CTV rips have all been eminently better and suffer from no such problem. The quality has been crisp and the colours accurate. I wonder what CODECs are being used for those people that are suffering problems? I also checked out the comments last week in for the xvid rip of Lost and there were people say they could see no precipitable difference between the xvid and H.264 encoded rips. Just to satisfy my own curiosity I downloaded both versions last week and watched the same sections in both the 350MB and 1.09GB files back to back. Well, I'm not sure what those people where watching but the difference is absolutely clear. The xvid rip is very soft with many more artefacts that the H.264 rip. Maybe this is because I'm watching on a very, very good quality Pioneer Plasma, but my guess is that this should be noticeable on any good quality HDTV made in recent years. Again, this maybe down to the way that those people have there media PCs set up, the players they use and/or the CODEC/filters installed or the way they are configured. It's not that I'm saying that the xvid rip is bad, it just that the H.264 rip s noticeably better and anyone with a decent largish TV should find it a more pleasurable watch. All I can say is that if the quality of this rip matches the quality of the previous CTV rips in recent weeks, I will be very happy. |

Its not that the H.264 versions are as bad as the xvid's, because i agree with you that they are a lot better, its that theyre nowhere near as good as they used to be. Try comparing this weeks mkv file with one from earlier in the season. i think the quality is noticably worse, especially in the darker scenes. |
