Breaking Bad is definitely becoming a classic ! The principal character is so interesting : he starts as a bland chemistry teacher to become a serious bad ass !! |

Walt is certainly not a mastermind. That's what makes this series so interesting. He's making this up as he goes along, flying by the seat of his pants and there's always trouble around every corner. |

Respectfully disagree with grescale - after the mess with the cousins and Hank, it was flat out ballsy for them to give us an introspective episode that caught us up with what was going on internally with our two most prominent characters. It reminded us of the Walt we met in the beginning, the hopeless guy with terminal cancer, yet gave voice to how even more lost he's become, as his moral compass is no longer a little off true north, it's now broken. Basically, Walt is now capable of anything. And that is what we've seen unfold in the last act. |

That difference has amazed me too, sivopt. The hat has a powerful visual effect. Without the hat: Walt, confused chemistry teacher, surviving by the seat of his pants. With the hat: Heisenberg, criminal legend and master cook whose name is whispered in awe by tweekers and DEA agents! I must disagree with WCK. Walt is getting to be a mastermind. He's now reading the strategies of Gustavo, predicting his moves ahead of time, having his own plans ready to counter them. Soon, Walt won't be a cook working for Gustavo; Gustavo will be a distributor working for Heisenberg. After Walt's last move, he has Gustavo cornered. Gustavo has played a very ambitious game, making incredibly dangerous enemies to gain a monopoly, and depending entirely on the strength from that monopoly to stay alive. Without another cook waiting, he'll be in no position to set terms. Walt has been aware of this since the Cartel was kicked out, and now he's using it to full effect. He may try threatening Walt's family, but that won't work. Killing the entire family of a DEA agents sister-in-law is too risky; without his family, Walt will be useless, as he's not selfishly motivated or afraid to die; Skyler is now in on it, and she is in an ideal position to manipulate an unwitting DEA -- and is devious enough to do it. Granted, the writers may choose to not "allow" Walt to benefit from these obvious factors right away, but if they stick to the coldly precise game-theory of previous seasons, it will eventually determine the outcome of this confrontation. Walt and Jesse will both be back in the lab, on their own terms. |

Too long, I enjoy this one, maybe a 24 ep run would be in order for S4. |
