The game is afoot for the BBC, and the UK premiere of ‘Sherlock,’ a modern interpretation of the classic Sherlock Holmes character is just a matter of hours away. This short series of three movies is made by BBC Worldwide, and is the brainchild of Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss (League Of Gentlemen and Doctor Who). In many of their recent interviews, both men have revealed that they took inspiration from the older Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes movies, set in the 1940’s when they were made. And this is why EZTV is easily one of my favorites! What a fun program! I love finding shows as an American I wouldn't be able to see for months (and who knows if I would on BBC America). I wasn't expecting this but it was pretty cool. I look forward to next weeks installment. |

Yay, can't wait. After Jekyll and Who, Moffat is by far my favourite TV writer these days. Just too bad that the BBC has ditched the pilot of this one, so now there's only 3 instead of 4 episodes. ...or are there updates on this? It'a been a while since I've read it. |

Love this interpretation of Sherlock Holmes. Story was well written (hope they keep it up) and actors were spot on. Surprisingly only has a mediocre rating on IMDB but that seems to be a result of purists not liking that some other actor is portraying Holmes or that material isn't the same old stories rehashed (even though I personally found the originals excellent also) . Like how they are showing the observations that Holmes make as he investigates and not trying to fill space with flashbacks to "what really happened". The clues are presented to you but left to you to piece together. I also appreciate the fact that his arrogance is a quirk of being intelligent and not a complex that he is forcing on others. All in all a good show. Quality of this rip was excellent with no obvious issues. |
