Is this a series which can be picked up now, i.e. is there a plot to follow? I've read the comments on this site, and also read the comments in IMDB. The jury seems to be out as to whether the show is excellent, or aimed at twelve year olds? Five seasons after the show started, I would assume there's been considerable improvements in technical presentation? Science can be interesting, or if done badly, a sleep inducer. I don't have endless download capacity, so am somewhat a picker and chooser of what to get. I suppose what I'm asking, are these all individual episodes, or have a theme/storyline? |

A look on Mars for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Mars is explored to determine if any clues exist to show that either now or in the past the existence of life can be proved. Data is offered that postulates the remains of lakes and rivers that had effects on Mars' surface. Ice on Mars' poles and climactic variation in methane is considered as possible evidence that bacterial life still may be found below the surface of Mars. |

It's a documentary for crying out loud. No plot, just science. The series has been well done, one of the better ones dealing with space. This particular 'episode' updates previous shows dealing with Mars with updated data and recent discoveries. If you enjoy documentaries, you will enjoy The Universe. There isn't a lot of CGI, most graphics you see are actual photos taken from spacecraft that have visited Mars. In the more theoretical shows there has been excellent CGI to illustrate various concepts. The attraction of this show for me, is the many well respected scientists and their views. The show tries to be balanced in its approach. |

This show may be geared for a younger audience but it still does make it interesting even for an adult. I've watched this show from series 1 & I find it very interesting. I'm a big fan of space exploration & stuff like that so I guess that helps Maybe I'm just a big kid at heart.... |

It suffers a bit from the Mythbusters syndrome, i.e. recapping half the show after each commercial break. Also the show has been dumbed down a bit since the first two seasons. A lot of episodes were spent with annoying doomsday scenarios, the biggest explosions in space, how space kills you, ... You can usually tell from the episode title if the episode is going to be worth watching though |

I like all things Space and Science (and Sci Fi) so that definitely helps. This series is a download-watch-delete kind for me tho. |
