I agree with u..!the only thing i am worried about is the series will go down in the quality of the humour by the episodes...!and usually the first episode is always the best apart from the proven ones like Lost,heroes...!So,i hope it will get better next episode...!but at least it is a goos start to show muslims on a better and a funny side"as normal people" than..bein always the evil and the bad guys...! My wife and I believed the hype and tuned in to this show. We found maybe two jokes funny and enjoyed the performance of Shelia McCarthy. I think there could be a funny show about a Muslim family or community. This is not it. If anyone should be offeneded, it should be people from Saskatchewan. I am sure most of them would not go running out of the room on hearing the word \"bomb.\" The show lost almost a million viewers from its first week, if it doesn\'t get better next week it will lose at least two more. I really had high hopes for this show. I wanted it to be funny. I wanted it to be an Everybody Hates Chris or Wonder Years. Instead it was just another bad CBC comedy with Muslim jokes instead of Newfie jokes. I have heard that the CBC tinkered a lot with the scripts in their effort to make sure nobody was offended. If this is true, then I hope the creator has a chance to fulfill her true vision. |

Yep, i have to agree with you Wilder. I thought it might have been a breathe of fresh air. Sadly, it failed to deliver. Regardless of its ethnic makeup, a comedy has to be... er, funny. That other Saskatchewan comedy Corner Gas, is far superior & was more endearing on its 1st couple of episodes. I didn't realise the PC police existed in Canada. Or maybe they just wanted to be bold & have... Muslims on primetime. anyway, it was pretty uneventful & full of every expected cliche that one could write in this climate. It had a 'been there, done that' feel to it. |
