BBC - America's Most Hated Family in Crisis (2011)

Information
America's Most Hated Family in Crisis
Following up on his 2007 documentary, The Most Hated Family in America, Louis Theroux returns to
Topeka, Kansas, for a week-long visit with the Westboro Baptist Church.
He again joins the Phelps family on their controversial pickets where they try to antagonise
communities with offensive slogans and anti-gay placards. But four years on from Louis's last visit,
there are signs of disarray in the Phelps clan. A series of defections of family members has shaken
up the church.

Ironic how they bash everything- yet I notice how they live with flash cars, big houses, all the
posters everything- then you think how was all that made? from petroleum which they use to make the
posters to picket with the slogans on the t-shirts- they all a bunch of hypocrites- egotistical
maniacs who want stuff their way or no way. They in bed with the devil and they don't even realise
it- throw away all that property(fridges ,sunglasses, computers,tv's etc)- stop using such products
and then your conscience can be clear!

Bunch of inbreed rednecks lmao at them!

I'm a Christian, and believe me, these people do not speak for anyone of faith.

I see brainwashed, misguided zealots like this that have gone so far off the rails it almost seems intentional, and can't help
but wonder if they've been manipulated for the express purpose of discrediting the rest of Christianity.

Shouldn't this be labeled as a Louis Theroux documentary? Are there others I have missed since the
Zionist episode?

DW theroux only does 1 or 2 a year andif im correct this is the last one he did under contract with BBC.

And i think if you state you hope someone "kills all these sick weird fucks" proves that you
completely missed the point of the whole documentary, which was that one family elder who is this
nuts yet somehow so powerfully convincing can drag an entire group of people down with them ( i
mean, even the asian guy was convinced he spoke the one truth after sitting in for a while ). The
children are no more brainwashed by their surroundings than the adults in the group, they are all in
the old dudes grip. And somehow they do not seem able to asses situations objectively, only in terms
of why 'others' are satan's helpers, and why they have the monopoly on the heavenly. It is a
situation that can never be won by anyone on the outside or lost by anyone on the inside, hence they
shun members who speak an alternative voice...

In my humble opinion this is a great magnified example of how all the religions work. Most religions
preach more acceptance, but it is a small step to this kind of zealotry because people in any
religion claim to preach the absolute universal truth and that is where the dangers of zealotry lie.
History has proven that effective and convincing leaders can get groups of people to do anything
they want in name of the 'absolute truth'.

I actually think these guys are great at showing religion for what it really is.

You can either compromise on your religion and basicly reduce it to metaphor and fairy tales. Like
most of the ecumenical churches do.

Or you can be like these guys and take every word of it seriously and demonstrate how out dated and
inappropriate it is.

Its better just to accept there probably isnt a god, so try to live a full and rewarding life.
