They ruined SGU when they started the 'love triangle' in season 1. .... After that, the show had no
direction whatsoever. Now that they've succeeded in destroying the show, they are back on track with
great scripts in order to wrap things up.

This show never had to fail, they killed it on purpose.

It doesn't pay to start downloading as soon as the torrent is listed. I used to do that and the downloads
would take 3 hours!

Now I wait until the next morning, and the torrent always comes in in 15 minutes --- 15 minutes, 27
seconds to be exact for yesterday's SGU.

This show failed for one reason and one reason only...

the writers, producers, directors tried to turn Stargate into Battlestar Galactica... with all the
dumb backstories including all the overly politically correct cast and pschodramas they lost the
entire audience.

I have to agree with much of the sentiment that it was only when they actually started bringing back
some of the old stargate cast that the show had any hope of recapturing some the old story lines
that made it successful.

NOW IF EZTV CAN JUST TELL ME WHY OPENBITTORRENT AND TPB DON'T START THE TORRENTS DOWNLOADING IN THE
LAST MONTH I'D BE MUCH HAPPIER!

It's strange that TPB and EZTV have been going down at almost the same time and their mutual
problems with torrents not downloading seem to be connected as well with TORRENTDAY and
OPENBITTORRENT not starting the downloads for a lot of users.

EZTV can't fix the problem of torrents like this one not starting if no one tells them about it.

Do you want to back that statement up with anything other than conjecture? This show "failed"
because people made uninformed statements and assumed a variety of opinions based mostly on
information released prior to the show even being aired. More importantly if you really liked
science fiction programming you would just watch it and laud it regardless of its overall quality in
your eyes, so that people who have opinions which actually matter in the entertainment industry
(namely those with money) would think "Hey, science fiction looks like it could draw a good audience
and create some nice advertisement revenue!". Instead people pointlessly bitching all the time
results in shows like this getting cancelled and the entire genre as a whole going down the toilet.

Thank fuck for literature and gaming because I have a feeling that in a few years they'll be the
only place we'll get decent science fiction, the only kind we'll get in TV and films will be
horribly derivative tripe designed to appeal to a broad audience.

*Now to the actual post*

Good episode, it felt like a cheap excuse to say "look this is how the relationships would have
developed" but w/e.

Pretty on-spot Magicman. My backup is that the Stargate is no longer the star of the show. It seems
like the Deluise family that was involved in production put one of their kids in the show too.

The franchise started to fail even with Stargate Atlantis. Let's face it, the show was carried by
pretty much one actor. Even the other actors who have since moved on to other projects like
Sanctuary and Smallville have not been able to generate the same entertainment. The casting of Jack
O'Neil made the show work even though it started out very campy and corny. The show hit it's stride
when MacGiver began to do his thing and made something out of nothing by giving the O'Neil character
some depth and likability.

The writers in the original SG seriers tried to stay true to the movie up until the later years when
they started introducing other antagonists that included very real world philosophies and obvious
personal writing biases. The crazy ascending and merlin plotliines, while interesting, simply served
to take the show away from it's roots.

Ultimately the tie in to ancient Egyptian plot lines was replaced and as the show transitioned into
the Atlantis babel, the series was stocked with a cast that could strike a pose nicely but couldn't
act so much as have hissy fits on camera or act distant and uninvolved. Instead of taking notes from
the Urkel show, which originally had Urkel as a supporting cast member only, the writers, producers
and directors didn't adjust to showcase characters that the audience liked, choosing instead to
stick with their casting selections as "stars."

In the end, the series strayed from the Stargate and became a ship in space with a lot of sexual
psychodramas and infiltration who's-who-on-which-side in a sardine can in space trying to get back
to earth... sound familiar? ... Battlestar Galactica was a spaceship with a lot of sexual
psychodramas where you didn't know who was on what side trying to get back to a mythical homeworld.

... the writers, producers, and directors ruined the Stargate series because they took the Stargate
seriers and tried to turn it into Battlestar Galactica with a few oblique references to using a
stargate only when it served the plotline.

Is it me or is there a gaping hole in this subplot?

If these humans had 2,000 YEARS to develop their technology and had stargate access, they certainly
were able to generate enough power to gate back TO EARTH! Their original home world! I find it
strange this was never mentioned at all.

Since they kept meticulous historical records, they certainly knew earth's gate address. It was just
a matter of generating enough power.
