How to Teleport Ep. 4) Teleportation sounds like sci-fi fantasy but it may not be so far fetched after all. Dr Michio Kaku reveals that it's already taking place on an atomic level at the Joint Quantum Institute at the University of Maryland. He meets futurologist Mike Treder and Dr Raymond Damadian, one of the inventors of the MRI scanner, and comes up with a design that incorporates advanced MRI technology, lasers and 3D bio- printers. We might be beaming up sooner than you think! |

"Dr Michio Kaku" Is there anything this guy won't whore himself out to do these days? Seems like he tries to get his mug plastered all over any program involving the discussion of scientific themes, and/or pseudo-scientific concepts. He must be profitting heavily from his appearances as the token "Science Guy" on every channel. Personally, I find him a little too oriented toward non-evidence based "Theories", wihch seem really just like hypothesis or conjectures. If you want to teleport it is quite easy. Dial up Jeff Goldblum and ask him for a couple of the pod teleporters he used in The Fly. Remove all extra lifeforms from the pods, and voila. |

Agreed, he's pretty quick to gloss over alot of pretty significant issues. I suppose that's why he's presenting these "theories" to a small group of "sci-fi fans", instead of actual scientists and engineers. In this teleportation show, he really missed the boat by pretending our current MRIs and 3-d printers are only a few steps away from the type of instantaneous molecular MRI and printer needed to copy and paste something that isn't a homogenous plastic... It's mildly entertaining, but the sci-fi fans should wear their tinfoil hats. |
