Episode 3: Maitland We begin this episode in Newcastle and fishing for ocean trout off Stockton beach. Right here is something rather odd - the F word is one of Billy's favourites and the intercut footage from the stage shows is peppered with the word. But, when he uses it on the beach they bleep him! After finally catching a fish he heads off to Maitland and into a graveyard, the one that contains Les Darcy. After another quick stroll along Circular Quay we end up at the Gallery of Bret Whiteley, here we hear about Billy's friendship with Bret and see some of his works of art. |

Is this the 1995 series in 8 eps? It starts with an Aboriginal guy playing a pipe as Billy comes by on his trike and the play out tune is Ralph McTell Dreamtime? If it is, this is one of the best shows you will ever watch, I'm bias towards the Yin anyway, he's my sort of fella and the way he can kill an ego and point out the whole upside down logic currently coursing through mankind is simply awesome. Some way though Billy has a birthday, he's about 55 back then and when I recently watched the series again I though of him as someone now in his 70's, which means he won't be around forever, a brilliant talent, and an observant member of life, something sadly lacking now in most folks, get it, watch it and store it, this series will become one to watch later, it's almost a time capsule in itself. |
