Troops reveal the inside story of what it's really like fighting on a tour of duty in Afghanistan today. Filmed on and off the battlefield, each episode follows the story of a group of Servicemen and women fighting the war from three unique perspectives: on foot, in the air and from behind the wheel of armoured vehicles. 3. Squaddies Follows infantry soldiers, or 'bullet-catchers' as they call themselves. These troops are never more than 500 metres from the enemy, living in a world where injury and death are an occupational hazard. In just a few months, three of the 16 soldiers based on a small compound on the frontline of Helmand Province are seriously injured: one by an IED, one by gunshot wound to the neck and one by a grenade. It's a stark reminder of the risks they face each time they set outside the wire on foot patrol. It's a stark reminder of the risks they face when invading foreign countries, killing scores of innocent men, women and children in the process. Fuck 'em. What are they fighting for again? |

You sad little prick - they are fighting because they have to - as for you, you probably think its great that your mommie bought you an xbox because you really intended to move out of home when you were 30 but never got around to it - maybe one day your daddy will come round and tell you who he is. Just so you know, British Troops clear houses and compounds manually, not with explosives. I think you would be hard pressed to find any report of UK troops killing more than 20 civilians during the conflict in Afghanistan. But then, of course, you probably know best seeing as how you have been over there yourself ... |
