You know... it is a bit funny how extremely un-secure this 'seed bank' was if you compare to others like the one in Norway(for example): http://community.greencupboards.com/2011/02/14/doomsday-seed-vault/  If all hell broke lose, why would this over-sized refrigerator room survive?... Seriously, This was ridiculous!... its just a cold room the size of a large freezer... no security, not built to withstand earthquakes(from what we could tell on the episode), no extra layer of quarantine in case we where all wiped out by some plague, security was pretty much none existing from what was shown... and THIS was our way to protect our plant life from future extermination events.... yeah right! I seriously doubt we where shown the real deal, seemed more like a 'front' display... ...makes me wonder if they even use those locations to store seeds in the first place. [edit] and oh... and I could not stop laughing at the ignorant old lady doing the Quiz, who think it is fiction that our sun will burn out? seriously... everyone who has been to school knows this, it is fact. It is also true that a black hole COULD 'swallow' us, its not very likely, but it is possible. There are plenty of destructive forces in the universe that can destroy us, some WILL(not maybe, fact) affect us at one point or another, the only real question is WHEN, it might take 10 years, it might take 10.000 years... but its only a matter of time. I suppose the old lady didn't believe in the dinosaurs ether... He also mentions a 'doomsday clock date' witch I was unable to hear, other than the infamous 21-dec-2012 one... I don't know of any major date?(and even that one is just silly). to what date was he referring? |
