Can anyone tell me why the picture quality is poor? It keeps freezing and scattering with green pixels. Does it have
something to do with it being HD? I am using XP.

@Angel_Agape =
it depends on which player you use : Videolan VLC ? Media Player Classic Home Cinema MPC-HC ? GOM
Player? MPlayer-rtm-svn-34401 or SMPlayer? The KMPlayer? Other(s) player(s)?
Most of these players don't need additional filter(s) or decoder(s) or codec(s).
If your computer is older and below CPU AMD or INTEL 1.4-1.6 GHz, 720p and probably 1080p video with
H264 or X264 codec will play very slow or skip a lot of frames...

(Sorry for being late for answering.)
I mostly use Media Player Classic Home Cinema MPC-HC http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ .
Sometimes I use MPlayer-rtm-svn-34401
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayer-win32/files/MPlayer%20and%20MEncoder/revision%2034401/ ,
you need http://www.7-zip.org/ to open and extract files from a .7z archive.

When using MPlayer-rtm-svn-34401, I drag a video file and drop it on mplayer.exe; left and right
arrows are for rewind and forward, space is pause/resume play, f is fullscreen, q is quit. o (push
once or twice) is for displaying duration on screen. There are other keys but I rarely use all...
