This is an Alternate Cut. In this edit, Karen Cartwright, played by Katharine McPhee, is a successful Porn Queen who, while enjoying her career of sordid sexual encounters with random men, has always had a longing to be in a musical stage play. When Derek Wills, played by Jack Davenport, the womanizing sexual deviant, happens to catch Karen doing a spectacular DVDA scene one afternoon, he is mesmerized by her ability to hold a pitch perfect note while under intense pressure (literally), and he offers her the role as Marylin Monroe in his own stage play. A dream come true for Karen, but a shocking development for Dev, Karen's love interest and pimp, who see's the career change as an attack not only on his manhood, but his high society income he has grown accustomed to. Smash! Costarring Anjelica Huston as Eileen Rand, the bitchy ex-Porn star yet motherly figure to Karen, who taught her all about the sex industry she has opted out of, for a life on the stage. True story, I read it on the internet in a dream I had once in a memory I've long forgotten.. |

I bet those of you that piss on the show haven't even seen it. And anyone that compared it to Glee probably haven't either. For anyone interested in a legitimate opinion, this is actually very good. It's nothing like Glee - the only comparison you could make is the vague tie-in of musical theme. This is about a musical theatre writer creating a musical about Marilyn Monroe. I found it fairly compelling, and the cast is very good. The musical side of things could wind up being either regular (like Glee), or just for specific moments, but we'll see how it goes. Based on the first episode, the Nerdfury Complex As Fuck Scale Of Watchability puts it at: Weekly download Don't pause to let other things go first unless they're extremely good (Game of Thrones good) Watch first if nothing else on that day, watch early if multiple good things waiting to be viewed. Recommend to others without fear of mockery. |

I nevere tire of the holy "DVDA", and it's very impressive to be able to hold a note, on purpose, while in such a clinch! |
