I renamed file extension from MK3D back to MKV to allow the file to be uploaded to MVGroup. MK3D has
some additional information in the header namely MultiView_Count and MultiView_Layout otherwise MK3D
is identical to MKV. Not many players make use of this information. The Syabas Popcorn player uses
the "3DSBS" or "3DTAB" in the filename to figure out how to decode the file.

Some of the 3D cameras have an 18 pixel black bar at the top with black bars left and right.
Cropping 3D is a bit different to cropping 2D requiring the image to be converted back to 2 images,
then cropped and recombined and then resized.

The AVS script looks like this - the Stereo 'S' image is Half SBS 1920x1080:

loadplugin("Crogram FilesmeguitoolsdgindexnvDGDecodeNV.dll"
S = DGSource("DVDbbchd-opening-ceremony.dgi", deinterlace=1)
L = S.crop(10,18,-966,0)
R = S.crop(970,18,-6,0)
StackHorizontal(L,R)
Spline64Resize(2560,720)

Each image is cropped by 18 pixels in height and 16 pixels in width which maintains a zero aspect error.

You can view the file in 2D or 3D mode.

For 2D mode on a 2D screen just crop off the left or right view.
With VLC select "Tools->Effects and Filters" and select the "Video Effects" tab and then select
sub-tab marked "Crop" and enter a left or right value of 1280.
With MPC-HC and ffdshow double click on the red "FFv" taskbar icon and select the "Crop" tickbox and
enter a left or right value of 1280.

For 3D mode on a 2D screen there's the Bino or Stereoscopic players that allow anaglyph mode.

For 3D mode on a 3D screen you'll need a modern media player like the Syabas Popcorn.
The WDTV player might work but the file uses AVC level 4.2 to allow double the macro-block rate.
Half SBS 1080p works with WDTV but I'm not sure about Full SBS 720p.

Awesome, thank you! I watched this live and was amazingly impressed by the show, especially the
music used throughout - but then I love Underworld who I think Danny Boyle collaberated with. I
almost feel sorry for Rio de Janeiro, every year the opening ceremony gets better...talk about
pressure
