is there any reason why a 720p for 24 is upload Monday nights instead of heroes
when heroes seems to have a much higher demand than 24 based on the seed/leech
stats?

As far as I'm aware, EZTV has little control over the release timings; all EZTV
do is grab the release from the scene and make it available through torrents.
Therefore, I'm guessing that 24 being "released" before Heroes is because it is
released in this order on the scene. Air time will often have a large part in
this; if one show is aired before the other, it will probably be released before
the other too.

Also, I had never heard of the show Heroes before I read this post, maybe it's
because I am not american.

Thanks for all the 720p's, EZTV! Loving your work, keep them coming please!

Does anyone know why this isn't up on usenet yet? At least not on any indexing
sites?

Most likely because 24 is a much more popular show overall.

i know eztv has no control on release times or the scene groups they come from.
just something i was wondering. i still get heroes in 720p anyway, just from hd
private tracker sites. it at least saved me 2.14gb of dl ratio junk with lost
and prison break 720p each week, so I'm glad for that.

@rkotecha

- simple way (2.0 stereo only)
this version of TCPMP player (1st link below)
just extract to some folder and its good to go
BUT only plays stereo audio, does not go out of sync

- slight work needed (5.1 audio possible)
CoreAVC 1.1.0.5 (torrent, 2nd link below)
use mpc classic with coreavc. coreavc is not always as easy as tcpmp because you
have to disable ffdshow h264 filter if thats installed, and make coreavc the
preferred external filter. then it works great like tcpmp.
(3rd link) detailed instructions.
Set coreavc as preferred (4th link) (if needed)
- if you use a slow computer then it could go out of sync because it wants to
play every frame even if that means playing lower then the original fps. try
unchecked "lock back-buffer before presenting" in options >> playback >> output
if sync issues occur or just use vlc if you have a real nice computer. but vlc
has spdif 5.1 issues.

death734, you seeem very much up to date with this stuff, so let me ask
how can I play these files on my tv?
right now I dl 600mb files, burn them on dvd, and watch them with my home dvd
player...pretty sweet but HD 720p is another world.
so now, if i start to dl x264 files, will i be able to play them with my
dvdplayer (which only supports divx?) i suppose not...
what player should i buy in order to play these files?
thanks

I'm not sure what standalone player will support these.
blu-ray and hd-dvd players support the mpeg-4 AVC h264 codec but i would assume
that it would have to be the evo container format and what ever blue ray uses
and not just .mkv

what i do is drag a few year old computer (amd athalon xp 2200+, 512mb ram,
128mb ati radeon 9000 pro video card) to my projector (a laptop would work too
if its powerful enough), plug the video in with
vga, audio in with coaxile spdif, plug in ethernet from my switch, wireless
mouse. then i play the file over the network with MPC (coreavc/ac3filter
filters and mplayerc.exe priority set to high) and it works good with by staying
in sync with the 1.07gb x264 files.

on the HD tracker sites it seems quite common to play 720p/1080i/p
x264/mpeg-2/h264 files from your computer thats connected to a tv/projector
