File is messed up. It has no extension or something.

I had to choose VLC to open it.

The file is NOT messed up.
This file DOES have an extension
The.Colbert.Report.2012.09.19.Itzhak.Perlman.HDTV.x264-LMAO.[VTV].mp4
Is using VLC really a bad thing?

Perhaps someone can help find the root cause of your issue, and a solution, please provide additional
information. For starters, what operating system are you using, and what is the name & version number
of your torrenet client/software/app?

btw, Itzhak Perlman's performance at the end of the show is pretty awesome.
Love that man, and love the Violin.

It was downloaded without an extension.

Don't be so quick to think I have a problem.

No other downloads have done this.

Just mentioning VLC as it was the program I used to Open with...

The issue is on your end, not EZTV's...or VTV's, and no one in the swarm is magically changing the
file name in mid air before sending you their bits and pieces of the file. Either your torrent client is
truncating the file name (a setting or filter within the app) or your OS is truncating or hiding the
extension. The truncating is occurring at your end...the file is not being sent to you any differently than
anyone else. Thousands of people have downlaoded this file with the full file name intact, including the
mp4 extension. What torrent client and what OS?

You can take what I've said as meaningless, incorrect, and useless, or you can take it as an offer of
assistance. The choice is yours.
