They can build good looking bikes, with different ideas and designs but the most important thing is that its pretty amusing to watch. I do not watch this to see if bikes can run for 50.000 miles or not. But the way bikes are designed, ideas being discussed and drawn and then built and assembled. That is what makes this show good and the personalities of the OCC crew. |

I'm not sure how you've exactly come to your conclusions, but I kinda figure the same thing myself. With all of the custom parts they use/make and the sometimes close tolerances they use on various areas of the bikes things are bound to go wrong in the long term. However, I pretty much assume all of the companies ordering these bikes do it for the publicity of being on the show and to showcase the bike parked on a stand at their headquarters. I doubt their bikes are actually ridden all that much. I ride and like sport bikes, not choppers. I absolutely hate having to listen to all the meaningless arguments on the show. Some of the little side trips they do (like hunting, riding snowmobiles, playing around on the constructions site) on the show are pretty entertaining. What I really watch the show for is just to see them actually putting the bike together and making the custom parts. I just enjoy the show for the actual mechanics and I wish they would focus more on that aspect in the show. For all the complaints I have about the show, all in all I enjoy it. |

To the first poster: Those custom theme bikes might see 1000 miles at most, but never 50,000. They do make actual dealer bikes that will last 50,000+ miles. |

Hmmm, Well over the years I have got: 102,000 miles on my Lada 120,000 miles on my Yugo and 180,000 miles on my Pony So OCC should be really proud that they can build a retail bike that goes one half or one third the distance. Applause applause!!! |

ok... I'm sure their bikes last longer than 50,000 miles. That was my point, the OP threw out 50,000 and I answered with the 50,000 mile number. In case anybody has a hard time understanding it though, i.e. you, I'll add a +. Are we talking bike or engine, the bike should last forever seeing as it's a steel tube chassis. They don't make engines or transmissions, but I'm sure the engines and other mechanical parts they use for their dealer bikes last just fine. I'm not a motorcycle guy so I don't know how long a typical chopper engine should last, but I'm sure their engines and bikes last as long as most other bikes available on the market today. Unless you know something we don't. Hopefully you got the point now that its been hit over your head. Applause applause!!! Any vehicle properly maintained should last for a long while. My mazda has 184,000 miles and it's been abused. You should also keep in mind that the more power a vehicle puts out the more care it will need and most likley not last as long between rebuilds. |

Agreed--its all about the publicity the clients are looking for. Especially for theme bikes like Eragon and HP. Not surprising they built one for a computer company seein as they're spokespersons for HP. And nobody really expects the theme bikes to spend much time on the road in the first place. You take 'em for a spin, you'll be lucky to make it back ridin the thing. And they admit that too. About the only custom jobs they built that you expect to last are the FANtasy bikes. Those rides didn't use a whole lot of custom pieces; mostly off-the-shelf with a few cosmetic changes. |

Well of course theme bikes aren't meant to be driven across the US. I mean, look at the last one they did with the fuel tank shaped like a rocket pack. That thing would guzzel fuel like a Sherman. As for glueing? Happens all the time with certain parts on certain bikes. Just depends what glue you use as to the the piece flying off and impalling itself in someone's forehead. P.S. Whenever I see those battle sharp rear fenders (mudguards to us English) then I wonder what happens if you get in an accident and end up being shredded by one. |

first of all I doubt any of the theme bikes will be driven even a thousand miles. also its not glue its high-tech 3M adhesive tape. They build some really cool stuff IMO, like the wheels on the silver city helicopters bike. those are the sickest rims Ive ever seen |
