i like this show and all, but its a blatent copy of a canadian show on the OLN
network called Survivorman with Les Stroud. One main difference is this guy
brings a flint and Les uses what he can find, not to mention Les Stroud films
everything himself and has no crew with him. so in fact by filming by himself he
has to do even the most difficult things twice to get the right shot. Man vs
Wild is a good show but Survivorman is a Great show!

Cheers

for anyone interested heres a link to the website http://www.survivorman.ca/

well the fact that the dood in man vs wild brings a flint is somewhat
cheating.not everyone who gets lost brings one, not that they shouldnt, but
people dont. so the skills les stroud is demonstrating are more useful. showing
how to get a fire going from the enviroment your in.
dont get me wrong i like both shows and am not complaining. but les is the man

suvivorman is great, but to be fair Ive seen almost every ep of man vs wild
and baer grylls only used a flint once that I know of, all the other times he
used various different "natural" fire starting methods. Also ive heard man vs
wild is just a show from the bbc that was repackaged for america. so the two
shows werent really competing until they were both put on the discovery
channel. But I do like them both.

Actually it's the other way around. Man vs. Wild was is a show produced by
Discovery and then repackaged as "Born Survivor: Bear Grylls" to air in the
UK. According to Bear's website the show has only recently began to air in the
UK.

The reverse was the case for Survivorman. It was a show that Les produced for
OLN in Canada, which was later licensed to broadcast on the Science Channel
and the Discovery Channel.

I think that Man vs. Wild was compared to Survivorman right out the bat was
because Les was already well known, and had been doing these sort of
television programs for years. In 1994 he and his wife spent a year living as
the Natives did in the wilderness of northern Canada, without any luxury items
such as matches. Also, season one of Survivorman, which is 9 episodes with the
tenth being the "behind the scenes" episode took about two years to film. Bear
Grylls has already started filming season 3 of Man vs. Wild in the Sahara
Desert.

Anyway, in the end I love both shows and respect both men.
