Saving Grace is an American television crime drama series on TNT, which
premieres in the summer of 2007 and stars Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter in
her first TV series, Kenny Johnson, Laura San Giacomo, Leon Rippy, and Bokeem
Woodbine. The theme song for the show is written and performed by US rapper
Everlast. The show is rated TV-MA for language, sexuality, and violence.

In her television series debut, Holly Hunter stars as Grace Hanadarko, a
tormented, fast-living Oklahoma City police detective who, despite being at the
top of her field, takes self-destruction to new heights. After seeing tremendous
tragedy in her life, both professionally and personally, Grace lives life hard
and fast. She drinks too much, sleeps with the wrong men and defies authority.
Grace has a tender side with her 22 nieces and nephews, but that is a side that
most of the world doesn’t get to see. It all catches up with her one night when,
as she’s driving too fast after too many drinks, she hits a man who is walking
along the road. In an uncharacteristic moment, Grace asks for help, and she gets
it – in the form an unconventional angel named Earl (Leon Rippy). Earl tells
Grace that she is in trouble and running out of chances, but he wants to help
lead her back to the right path. The journey, for both of them, will not be an
easy one.

In addition to Rippy, the cast also includes Kenneth Johnson as Grace’s partner;
Gregory Norman Cruz as detective Bobby Stillwater; Bailey Chase as detective
Butch Ada; Bokeem Woodbine as a death row inmate who figures into Grace’s
struggle and Laura San Giacomo as the criminalist who, despite having strong
religious beliefs, is the only one in Grace’s life who does not judge her.

Actually, it premieres on July 23. So it's late.
I already downloaded it from another source a couple of days ago.
But at least now I know eztv will release it, so I can add a filter to the rss
feed and forget about looking for it somewhere else, as I did for the first
episode. I don't mind waiting a couple of days to watch a new ep.

Other than sounding like the story of my life ...is it me or does this show
with its "fast living female cop/detective" sound really really familiar? I
swear I've seen this concept before.

In answer to the question, is it good, I'd have to call it mediocre.
I love Holly Hunter and she does the best she can with what she's given, but
ultimately this is another one of those "angel on my shoulder" stories mixed up
with a standard cop drama.

These kind of shows piss me off mightily because they make it sound as if a few
special people get god's attention while the little kids that starve in Africa
or get molested by priests etc. etc. etc, get no divine intervention.

I shall avoid this show in future and pray that they find a better vehicle for
Holly's talents.

The thing I don't get about that question is if God (as advertised in the
bible), it the A to Z, the first to last, the beginning in the end that means
everything is of his creation. How can evil NOT be a part of his creation?
You can't be all that is if you aren't everything.

The question should not be does he exist. The question should be what do we
believe he exists for? JMHO.
