I frankly think it is insulting to us as Americans more than anything else. So many british comedies have done extremely well in the U.S. in the past, but nowadays networks are scared to even touch Canadian shows. If anything the diversity should be growing, but it is just getting less and less diverse on a daily basis. Obviously there are many shows that work better in their native market, and a remake here and there wouldn\'t be bad, but the complete reliance on them to the exclusion of everything else is just mind boggling to me. And it is not the American public that is against the shows, it is a narrow minded group of network executives who fail to comprehend their ratings system is skewed towards morons and are scared to do anything that everyone else isn\'t doing as well. I look at the popularity of anime in the U.S. as the single best example of this. True Japanese comedies are far different culturally than any Australian or British show could ever be, yet not only are they consistently well received but actually sell DVDs at the level of most U.S. shows. Really I guess it just goes back to the whole networks are a joke, their view of the American public is an insult, and their executives are too freaking stupid to understand what everyone is telling them. Not to mention their reliance on the monopolistic entities like Comcast to make sure that their crap is all anyone can watch without paying an extra 100 bucks a month. (And I don\'t use the term monopoly lightly, but the state of television providers in the U.S. is quite literally criminal, but any attempts to do anything about it are brushed aside by the government as a whole regardless of political party.) |

very true dmfaust, but anime is a poor example because its a very unique genre with a cult-like following and its nearly a US version anyway because its subbed or dubbed (always dubbed for US tv release). other than that though I agree with you completely. sadly networks want shows geared to the widest audience which usually means the retarded masses |

I don't think it would work as well with only bringing Moss's character along and replacing everyone else. |
