my turn to ask a dumb question. I had this problem also (which I quickly rectified by going to mirror 2 without bitching about it  )But my question is this. When I tried mirror 1, it set off windows installer. What the hell is it trying to do? |

I may be completely off-base here, but when you stay on the BT-chat page a few secs, it opens a pop-up window with (AAARG) country-specific ads. So maybe that particular pop-up calls for a sw component you don't have, and Windows being annoyingly "I'll do everything for you if you let me", it tries to install the missing component... |

Unfortunately we don't have control over what ads are showing through our ad provider, but they do filter harmful ads out. Sometimes a few slip by until it is reported or caught by the system, or maybe something happened like the post above. Ads are the only way we can currently pay our server bill, if this changes, we will take them off as we have done in the past. As for the torrent file missing, this occurred during our change of server and ended up not getting automatically uploaded by eztv. For now just use mirror 2 ;p Thanks! NBtX Bt-chat.com Staff |

Thank you mazette. Your explination sounds completely plausible. My internet machine is very low tech, we try to keep as much rubbish off as possible, so that's probably what's going on. And to NBtx, I concur with mazette. You have nothing to apologize for. If that's what it takes to keep you guys doing what you're doing, so be it. |
