The lesson to learn from Jericho is either A. The US is a country of idiots who watch nothing but reality crap, or B. The nielsen ratings are not giving a true representation of what people watch. In todays digital world the nielsen ratings are out dated and should be put out to pasture. There is no reason why every cable and satalite receiver in the country can't report accurate data to the people who need it, the advertisers who pay for the shows. |

Nielsen ratings are terrible common people writing down what they watch how dumb this is the 21st century, here i canada at one point i was part of a system where they hooked up a box to our tv and we had a second remote that we would hit a button on to identify who was watching makes a lot more sense to me. Though they removed it cause they had a better way of doing it. But lets ask if it was a struggling show with poor ratings why put it up against American idol cause we know every Nielson person watches it. |

They're basing this on the mysterious Nielsen people whom I have never met and who have NEVER spoken for me in the 56 years I have lived since most of my favorite shows seem to keep getting canceled. So the problem is they are counting people who do NOT represent me and a lot of the people who DID send in the peanuts. Until they get back to counting NORMAL viewers instead of this select mysterious few who don't represent the majority anymore the numbers will NEVER represent people like me. We'll have to live on reruns of old shows and forget getting new digital broadcast TVs since the networks will just cancel the shows we like anyways. |
