"Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" follows June (Dreama Walker), a Midwestern girl with big dreams when she moved to New York. She is hired at a coffee shop and things go slowly until she meets Chloe (Krysten Ritter), who on the outside seems nice and inviting, but secretly is a swindler who takes June's savings and spends it. However, June is smarter than that and retaliates by selling all of Chloe's furniture. James Van Der Beek (playing himself) and Chloe soon learn that June may be naive, but she isn't dumb.
Chloe than fights back when June introduces Steven as her fiance by sleeping with him. June walks in on them "in the act" and breaks it off. June realizes that even Chloe didn't know it, she saved June from making a huge mistake. Chloe decides to invite June into her colorful band of friends and they go around and be friends. Created by Nahnatchka Kahn (American Dad), "Apartment 23" is a comedy that focuses on the funny world of roommates and what a pain they are until you get to know them.
Krysten Ritter as Chloe, the eponymous "Bitch in Apartment 23". She is an amoral and shameless con artist, party girl, and swindler whom June described as a girl who "may or may not be a psychopath", and who becomes June's roommate. At first trying to scam June like she does all her other "roomies" by charging her extra rent, Chloe eventually comes to like June and welcomes her. She works by providing "entertainment" to diplomats at the United Nations.
Dreama Walker as June Colburn, who moves to New York (from Indiana) when her dream job at a mortgage company provides her with a huge apartment. However, on her very first day, the company is shut down when the owner is arrested for ripping off millions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme and the apartment building is sealed, forcing June to find a new place to live where she moved in with Chloe. She tries to be tolerant to Chloe's reckless lifestyle and tries to find her place in New York because she is too ashamed to return to her Indiana hometown over losing her job and career and facing her overbearing parents. She currently works as a barista at a local coffee shop.
James Van Der Beek as a fictionalized version of himself, the former TV star of Dawson's Creek, who is a good friend of Chloe's and desperate to revamp his sagging acting career.
Michael Blaiklock as Eli Webber, the peeping-tom next-door neighbor who spies on the girls through a window across an alleyway. He works as a city health inspector.
Eric Andre as Mark Reynolds, who would have been June's supervisor at the mortgage company, but now works with her at a local coffee shop.
Ray Ford as Luther Wilson (Regular season 2; recurring previously), personal assistant to James Van Der Beek. Luther and Chloe have a rocky relationship since, Luther denied Chloe money for rent and Chloe wouldn't read Luther's screenplay.
