HBO Options A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE	Robot Chicken	Login to vote
Powerhouse HBO has purchased the right to make the bestselling fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin into a dramatic television series. David Benioff ("Troy") and D.B. Weiss ("Halo") are set to be joint executive producers and writers of the new series, and Martin himself will pen one episode each season. Each book of the seven book series will be translated into one season of air-time. "Fire" is the first TV project for Benioff and Weiss and will shoot in Europe or New Zealand. The series will kick off with the first book, "A Game of Thrones," written in 1996; however Martin won't complete his septology until 2011. As it is filled with comparable sex and violence to HBO favorites such as "Rome," and "Deadwood," author Martin expressed his pleasure at the news, stating "I have been saying for years that HBO was the perfect place for A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE."
