'Heroes' Swordsmith Busted for Battering Girlfriend Nip/Tuck Login to vote
Actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who recently made a guest appearance on NBC's "Heroes," may have been less than heroic in the way he treated his girlfriend.

The Hawaiian resident was charged Wednesday night (Nov. 14) with domestic violence after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend, report Hawaii-area newspapers.

Tagawa, 57, confirmed an incident involving his girlfriend had occurred, but could not say more since there is an ongoing investigation. He did, however, comment on domestic violence in general.

"There can never be an excuse for it, no matter how major or minor," he told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. "It's unacceptable."

Officers responded to a 911 call that came in around 11:35 p.m. and went to the actor's Diamond Head home. They found the girlfriend with bruises on her legs. She claimed that Tagawa had hit her, but refused treatment. Tagawa was released at 12:45 a.m. on Thursday after posting $1,000 bail. He's due in court on Nov. 29.

Tagawa, an actor and martial artist, appeared on two episodes of the current season of "Heroes," playing the elderly swordsmith father of Yaeko during the feudal Japan sequences. His other credits include "Mortal Kombat," "Balls of Fury," "Memoirs of a Geisha," "Pearl Harbor," "Planet of the Apes" and "Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board," the sequel to the Disney Channel's "Johnny Tsunami."
