John Adams and 30 Rock dominated the television categories at Sunday's Golden Globes, with John Adams winning four awards and Tina Fey's NBC comedy scoring three. John Adams claimed awards for best TV miniseries or movie, lead actor Paul Giamatti, actress Laura Linney, and supporting actor Tom Wilkinson. (See our full coverage here.) "This was a hell of a job, this little costume drama we put on," Giamatti said. Laura Dern won best supporting actress in a series, miniseries or TV movie for Recount, Gabriel Byrne claimed best actor in a drama for In Treatment, and Anna Paquin won in the female category for True Blood. 30 Rock prevented an HBO shutout. It claimed best comedy, best actor for Alec Baldwin, and best actress for Fey, the show's creator. Excluded from the lovefest were Jon Hamm and January Jones, the Mad Men leads who lost out in the male and female dramatic actor categories. The show's third nomination is for best drama. Heath Ledger won posthumously for best supporting actor in a motion picture, and Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan accepted the award on his behalf. "After Heath died, you saw a hole ripped in the future of cinema," Nolan said. But he said he tried to focus on the "incredible place in the history of cinema that he built for himself." Film winners included a tearful Sally Hawkins, who won for best actress in a motion picture, comedy or musical for Happy Go-Lucky; Wall-E, which won best animated picture; Kate Winslet, who won for The Reader; and Bruce Springsteen, who won best original song for The Wrestler.
