The Bones and Booth Saga Continues Bones Login to vote
The Bones Season 5 premiere brought Bones and Booth one step closer to being together ... sort of.

I tend to pop up time after time.
Hart Hanson is either a genius or a complete idiot. I can't decide which. In the Bones Season 5 premiere, "The Harbingers in the Fountain," he managed to incorporate even more URST than he did last season between our beloved Bones (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) -- without actually having them bone. Is he really a master of subtlety? Or is he avoiding romance because he's afraid of writing it?

One thing's for sure: The URST that exists between Bones and Booth is still adorable, and that's an accomplishment. Their relationship is able to exist freely in professional and personal realms, since they have both a mutual attraction and an obligation to their collaborative work at the Jeffersonian Institute. The Office's Jim and Pam weren't so lucky -- they slogged through three seasons of unbearable wishy-washiness, and they didn't interact at work unless they were pulling pranks on Dwight and making googly eyes at one another. Bones and Booth are solving crimes, dammit! Cracking jokes is what keeps them sane as they study decomposed corpses. It's seems natural for them to like each other after awhile.

So even though Bones and Booth haven't jumped each other's bones quite yet, it's more possible than it's ever been before. It seems the coma changed Booth pretty noticeably: Upon receiving clearance from Sweets (John Francis Daley) to return to active duty, Booth's signature striped socks, tie, and belt buckle are nowhere in sight, and he seems perfectly comfortable around clowns. What's more, Booth is not only in love with Bones, but freely admitting it to himself and to others. Whether he's actually going to reveal these feelings to Bones remains to be seen.

Also: Cyndi Lauper made a great tarot card reader. Don't you think so? Her Queens accent reeks of strip-mall soothsayer, and she's got that slighly crazed look in her eyes that can only come from singing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" on repeat for 20 years. Her character, Avalon Harmonia, played a huge part in the first case of this new season -- and even though Lauper isn't the best actress, she maintained that detached-diva expression long enough to be considered a convincing psychic. Her dazed testimonies, though a bit contrived, helped established trust with the Jeffersonian Team, even though everyone was skeptical of her psychic abilities. And it was that trust that caused Booth to rescue Bones from a life-threatening situation. From there, he questioned his opinions about tarot cards -- and his feelings for Bones.

After the case is resolved at the end of the episode, Avalon says to Bones and Booth, "It will all work out, eventually." What is she talking about, exactly? And do you think she's right?
