Since December there have been rumors that Dawn Ostroff, the CW’s entertainment president, would leave the network at the end of the current television season to relocate to New York with her family. But will she? On Friday at the Television Critics Association press tour, Ostroff commented for the first time on the rumors. “It is a really personal decision that my husband and I have been grappling with and discussing with our family, but we have not made any decision.” Though she says she has not made a decision: “Right now, I’m just totally focused on our pilots; I’m knee-deep in them. I’m going home tonight to read all the scripts. I’m concentrating on work.” Personally, I think she’s going to step down – not only because she has been on the job for a very long time but because the CW’s ratings are better than last year (in total viewers they are up 8%). So it would be a good time for her to step down. It would be very interesting if a male became the new CW entertainment president. Maybe he would launch more shows aimed at a male audience like Supernatural and Smallville, instead of the more “girly” shows like America’s Next Top Model and Gossip Girl. What do you think?
