BIG BANG THEORY Postponed The Big Bang Theory Login to vote
uber-popular cbs series, and one of my only reasons for living, the big bang theory, is scheduled to start production on its eighth season at the end of july. work will only start, however, when the five original cast mates finish negotiating their contracts. for god’s sake: make it so.

series stars, jim parsons, johnny galecki, kaley cuoco, simon helberg and kunal nayyar are currently without contracts, as their deals expired at the end of last season. the previous renegotiations the cast faced was in 2010, when they were under contract and obliged to show up for work, but were still looking for a big pay bump on the network’s top rated comedy.

if deals with the first five are not reached before scheduled filming is to begin, the season could be delayed. but really, how possible is that? the series is established, wildly popular and has a steady viewership. melissa rauch (bernadette) and mayim bialik (amy farrah fowler) have already signed contracts, with a healthy raise for both, which they deserve.

cbs and warner bros. tv has already signed a three-year pickup for the show, so it’s not like they can’t go ahead without the actors who made the series so popular. in fact, that deal was dependant on the cast staying put.

currently, galecki, parsons and cuoco earned around $350,000 per episode plus backend (net profits). considering warner bros. and cbs signed their three-year deal for well more than $4 million per episode, i think they can afford it.

update 7/30 “due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on the big bang theory — which was originally scheduled to begin today — has been postponed,” wbtv said in a statement
