homeland isn’t holding anything back in this new trailer for season 4.

homeland fans, rejoice (or whatever it is that we homeland fans do. it’s not really a show made for rejoicing, more like wrapping oneself in a cloak of darkness and despair).

homeland fans, cloak yourselves in your black clouds! here’s a trailer for the new season. carrie (claire danes) abandons her baby; quinn (rupert friend) wants out, he’s done; and happy-looking people get blown up. sounds about right, homeland. i’m giddy in my pre-emptive depression.

carrie goes back to work after her baby is born, this time to pakistan, saying she doesn’t have a “choice” in the matter. i’m with her sister when she says, “i don’t believe you.” ask for a transfer to a desk job, carrie.

she also pulls that, “it’s my job,” crap when confronted about the fact that part of her job description is making sure certain people die. it doesn’t have to be, that way, mathison. you want it to be. you know who else excused all the evil they spread over the world with a flippant, “i was just doing my job”? circus clowns. all clowns. and they’re the most evil things to ever walk the earth.

frankly, i’m rooting for the rioters trying to overturn her car. you know, for the children.

homeland returns to showtime october 5 with two new episodes airing back-to-back.
