this should be the first half of a 2 part season finale.

entitled "all hell breaks loose".

what advantage do you get from an hr version as against occupying a bigger space
in your hd? i'd like to know as i see many preferring this version in other tv
shows. there must be something other than just a matter of taste. tks.

hmmm, how about better quality? those hr releases have a much bigger resolution...

wow you have never seen an hr? it is time you do or better yet a 720p.

hdtv 350 meg = low quality and low rez 624 x 352 with stereo sound
(barely good enough for normal older tv's)

hr.hdtv 700 meg = high quality and medium rez 960 x 528 with full ac3 surround
sound with much more detail and much better quantization average (less blocks
and more bits to use to get better sharper detail)

720p.x264 at 1.1 gig = highest quality and high rez 1280 x 720 with full ac3
surround sound (most of the time 6 channel sound. depends on show) almost as
good as the source transport stream. totally sweet!

resolution of 960x540 with ac3 5.1 sound. much clear picture. a gazillion times
better to watch, even on a standard tv set.

just because it's 350mb larger in size, it does not mean that the crappy 350mb
hdtv releases are better. the picture on hdtv releases are too fuzzy and hard to
watch. i simply hate it
i used to watch those low res hdtv releases but when i started to watch the hr
hdtv releases, i never stopped.
i even watched a x264 720p release of supernatural a couple weeks ago: res
1280x720 with ac3 5.1 and man, lemme tell you. everything is soooo sharp and
with so many details that it looks like a completely different series!
much more fun to watch. no bullshit!

personally, i go by what i'm watching (on my pc). if it is alot of outside
stuff and visual effects (like battlestar galactica) i get the 700 mb file.
otherwise i get the 350 mb file. my internet connection is not up enough to
be piling a bunch of 1 gb files on my hard drive. for those who want them, go
for it. for those of us who don't, fine. i was afraid they were going to
drop the 700s and just offer 350s and 1gbs - where i would downgrade to 350s.
if you can pile on the 1 gbs then just be thankful you can - others of us
can't and some just don't have the money to upgrade. now .... if you would
like to "donate to the cause"..... (*grin*)

what she said, it matters most on what it is if the show has good cinematography
aka nice picture then its worth it also the type of show comedies not really
needed but then something like stargate atlantis or lost or this then its really
worth it.

one time i download then uncompressed version of a smallvile ep 4gb but quality
was amazing to bad my computer couldnt handle it eh.

wow, i didn't think i'd provoke so many replies! but hey, as tony blair puts
it, "heart in hand", thanks a lot to all of you for enlightening this dummy. i
have simple equipment, an ordinary 15" crt monitor with an average pixel
rating of .22 set to 1028x760 res (which is pushing it a bit) and the simplest
ac3 stereo sound system. on tuesday i'll download 24 in both 350 and 700mb
version and check out if my equipment can make any difference as recommended
by one of you. again, thanks a lot guys n gals.

though i have a 17" lcd monitor... there is one heck of a difference b/w the
different versions. unfortunately for me... downloading the larger files is
just out of the question. to download an episode (approx 350 mb) it takes on
average 6 hours for me. so imagine if i were to start downloading the other
one!

damn that what happend in this ep. was spuprising lol. i wonder how they will
fix it in last episode coz this action in my opinion is destroying whole series
(i write in taht coz don't wanna spoil )

about that versions. i wrote long posts once about drawbacks of using another
versions then 350mb. i think there is no point in making bigger movies unless u
got at least 17'' lcd screen. on tv u can only watch if u connect computer and
tv with dvix station player u can't watch hr movies.

so what is the point writing this each time in comments?? contact with
releasing groups and don't spam episode forums i find this thread place for
talking about episode not about way of releasing movies.
