they've also been a lot smaller, about 280mb. not sure if 700mb is warranted for this, since the 280's look about as good as the 350's anyway. |

so, this is not the 3x06 as 'goat' numbered it (the watch-what-happened discussion show), but a real new episode? |

does the goat ep306 contain any spoilers for this season if it is listed as ep316 elsewhere? |

not really, it's reunion of the entire season. so it covers overall seasons through its airing. not everyone from each season is participating in, though. anyway, as for season 3, evictees ('til episode 305) were all there no spoliers for the future episodes whatsoever..:) |

appreciate this episode & what i would really like is a release of episodes 3 & 4 in 350 meg avi format, the goat mkvs suck as you cant play them on stand alone players.. |

700 megs is overkill and don't say 50 something minutes doesn't fit in 350 megs. a) it does with h264 and b) have you checked out big love? the riches? so why bump this to 700 megs? "scene rules" is an even lamer excuse as those are designed to hinder progress. and yeah the watch what happens special was the 6th airing of the season so it's episode 6. rocket science i tell ya. anyway goat's retiring, yay legal threats! so hope orenji will continue on and please the little xvid lovers. :f i survived http://goat-trauma.org/ |

54 minutes 350 megs with xvid with this show would suck. simple as that. a lot depends on the show itself too. like is it 23.976 or 29.97 fps. which the higher frame rate is about a 25% hit on bitrate needed to get the same quality. then if the show is high motion like 'so you think you can dance' which takes and extra 50% bitrate increase to get it to look as good as shows with low motion like law & order and shows like that. my point is you just can't make a blanket statement about file size and saying "a) it does with h264" is just silly. of course if you do not like it then cap it yourself |

but every single hbo and showtime hour-long show (often upward of 55 minutes) is 350mb. all of them. are you saying they're all low-motion or low frame rate not in need of anything more? for a minute, i was thinking it was because someone really likes padma lakshmi (the host of "top chef"), and there's an argument to made that she should only be seen in the very best quality, but even "the l word" is 350mb, so there goes that theory. |

they're not really comparable. "top chef" is more akin to "top model" or "project runway" but with food. |
