Scrubs and Better Off Ted Wrap January!

  LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The new seasons of "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted" are set to wrap in January, less than 60 days after their respective premieres.

Advance listings released by ABC this morning indicate the network will double run both series in the Tuesday, 8:00/7:00c and 9:00/8:00c hours beginning January 5.

CBS Medium Pick-up Confirmed
  As expected, CBS has now officially picked up canceled NBC series 'Medium', which is produced by CBS Studios. Also as expected, the series will be paired with 'Ghost Whisperer' on Friday Nights.

The show is already in its sixth year and Warner Bros have now sold a further three years of the programme to CBS.

Actors Being Urged to Strike
  The governing board of the Screen Actors Guild is being urged to ballot its members over strike action.

Contract talks between the actors' union and Hollywood studios are at a deadlock, after the latest pay deal was rejected in July.

Those negotiating on behalf of SAG's 120,000 members are calling for a ballot. They want the board to back a strike, calling it "unavoidable".

Industrial action will go ahead if 75% of balloted members vote for action.

The SCI FI Channel is ending Stargate Atlantis after five seasons, Multichannel News reports.

Don S. Davies: 1942-2008

  With great sadness we must report that veteran actor Don S. Davis passed away on June 29, 2008. He was 65 years old.

Don co-starred on Stargate SG-1 for the show's first seven years, helping to launch the enduring science fiction franchise. Davis played Major General George Hammond, base commander and a father figure to many of the show's characters.

He is also well-known for his portrayal of Major Garland Briggs in Twin Peaks.

Davies is credited with breathing new life into the show which he brought back to television screens in 2005.

Net firms reject monitoring role
  UK net firms are resisting government suggestions that they should do more to monitor what customers do online.

The industry association for net providers said legal and technical barriers prohibit them from being anything other than a "mere conduit".

The declaration comes as the government floats the idea of persistent pirates being denied net access.
